Your role

Within the activities of the LCSB, the Innovation and Partnering team is responding to the high demand on legal advice and support of research and innovation related projects, collaborations, agreements and to provide solutions to legal questions. The successful candidate will work within the LCSB legal office being part of the Innovation and Partnering team and report to its team leader.  You will be liaising with other LCSB operations teams, central services at the University of Luxembourg, as well as external collaborators and stakeholders.

Activities & Assignments:

  • Provide legal advice and support to legal issues; this might require conducting legal research in diverse areas of law including European, research, contract, data protection, animal testing, state aid, donations and intellectual property
  • Analyse and identify legal risks as well as implications
  • Draft, review, negotiate and administer various kinds of agreements, in particular research-related contracts.
  • Analyse and verify potential risks, proposing solutions.
  • Liaise with researchers and external lawyers/representatives of collaborating parties
  • Cooperate with colleagues at different levels within LCSB and the University of Luxembourg in the areas of technology transfer, data protection, procurement, taxation, human resources, academic affairs, students’ affairs, finance, and others
  • Handle legal ad hoc assignments
  • Contribute to the development of the LCSB’s internal procedures and overarching projects as well as the University’s policies
  • Keep abreast of all new laws and regulations that may have implications to the LCSB

Your profile

  • Master’s degree in law, preferably specialisation in contract/civil/IP law
  • Minimum working experience 5 years with at least 2 years in a research environment, industry experience is a plus
  • Proven knowledge of the Luxembourg legal system and in contract law
  • Excellent problem‐solving, analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to integrate in a fast changing and very international environment
  • Open minded and eager to discover different perspectives and ways of contributing to solutions
  • Team player with sound interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self‐driven and resourceful
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and French, German or Luxembourgish is a plus
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new things also beyond legal matters
